 Position Title: Teaching Assistant
Reports to: Youth Services Program Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

This position is a grant funded position and therefore, funding stream-reliant.

Summary:

To assist the teacher in providing academic support for students and ensure that program goals are met: help each student improve academic performance, make learning fun, encourage reading, motivate students to attend school everyday, help each student learn time management skills, and help each student achieve a positive self-image. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as may be assigned.

 

  • Assists in the implementation of the program
  • Provides support to children with completing homework assignments and then check for accuracy
  • Greets and supervises students as they enter the program
  • Assists in distribution of snacks
  • Ensures supplementary grade appropriate teaching materials are available
  • Encourages and rewards program participants for positive behavior, progress, etc.
  • Maintains accurate attendance and program records
  • Assists YWCA teacher in tracking and reporting on outcomes
  • Assists in the facilitation of communication with families regarding student progress
  • Notifies YWCA supervisor of any needed referrals for crisis intervention situations observed in students, which includes serving as a mandated reporter for incidents of suspected abuse

  • Associate’s degree in Education or related field preferred, or comparable experience working with children

Work Environment

TITLE: Family Support Services Manager
LOCATION: Trevose, PA 19053
REPORTS TO: Director of Program Services STATUS: Full-time
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Family Services

The YWCA Bucks County is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated MSW with strong leadership skills to implement and operate Family Services and Stability Programs including but not limited to, Strengthening the Family and Guiding Good Choices parenting classes. Assess participant awareness of issues related to families and evaluate program effectiveness through measurable outcomes. Raise awareness of the need for foster families for older children across Bucks County communities and promote awareness and education about the dangers of human trafficking. Provide programs and services that reflect the mission of the YWCA Bucks County.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Plan, initiate, develop, implement and evaluate YWCA Family Stability programs
  • Ensure that goals established in each YWCA program are achieved
  • Oversee the recruitment and supervision of specific program staff, student interns, and volunteers
  • Establish outcomes measurement processes; ensure program evaluation for programs; use feedback to guide program implementation and revisions
  • Market programs to identified populations and service areas
  • Recruit for full participation in programs

Program Administration

· Act as a liaison between YWCA and Bucks County Children and Youth Services

  • Assist in budget development and monitor budget for programs
  • Inform Program Director about programs’ status, areas of concern, and outcomes in all programs on a regular basis
  • Ensure and oversee the collection and maintenance of program statistics and outcomes data necessary for funding sources and reporting purposes
  • Plan and implement collaborative efforts to meet program and community needs with the Program Director
  • Attend trainings as required to develop or maintain proficiency in job duties
  • Participate in outcomes and evaluation procedures as required

  • Valid, insurable driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
