Family Support and Stability

Family Support Programs are offered at local schools and YWCA Family Centers which are conveniently located directly within low-income apartment complexes in Bucks County and are a one-stop-shop for a multitude of services to under-served women and their families. Staffed by multi-lingual coordinators, our Family Centers provide a wide range of services and programs and promote positive development and support to children, youth and families who utilize them. Services for adults include information and referral, translations, Food Pantries and classes in computer, ESL, parenting, and nutrition, and Foster Care Recruitment.  Family support programs for youth include academic and social support during out of school time including Early Academic Intervention Programs, Homework Zones, Teen Groups, and Summer Camps. Early Learning support is also provided through Kids Korner, Lunch & Library, and Story Hour programs.

Strengthening Families Program is an evidence-based family skills training program found to significantly improve parenting skills and family relationships, reduce problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol and drug abuse in children and to improve social competencies and school performance.

Employment The YWCA operates an Employment Services Program for low-income, unemployed and underemployed individuals in Bucks County. The goal of this program is to provide quality employment services to adults in need of direction and assistance in finding gainful employment to support themselves and their families. YWCA offers group employment workshops as well as personalized case management services to individuals, free of charge. The employment services include resume building, cover letter writing, job search strategies, interview skills and more!  With the workforce changing at rapid speeds, the YWCA employment team strives to master the current trends and guide clients with the most up to date best practices.

Family Finding – YWCA Family Finding Program is a direct service provider to Bucks County Children and Youth Services. The Family Finding team locate and engage the relatives of children who are involved in general protective services through Bucks County Children and Youth. The aim is to support identified families and develop plans to increase the child’s emotional connections and the parents supportive network of family and kin. Case Managers work with families who have open cases and conduct extensive family searches and aide in mending family relationships that may be strained.

Human Trafficking Awareness is a community informative session that raises public awareness and to educate individuals how to recognize human trafficking and report suspected instances.
